I have been itching for wine tours pretty much since I first set foot on African soil in 2013. As far as I’m concerned, there is no limit to amazing wineries, vineyards, and microbreweries to explore, and in South Africa especially, it is often a reasonably priced pastime.
In February, I was fortunate enough to visit Cape Town; one of my favorite cities, and certainly somewhere that has a secure place in my heart. In holidays past, I have notoriously been a “whatever you want” kind of gal.
Where do you want to eat?
“oh, wherever you want, I don’t mind.”
Do you want to see this movie?
“Whichever you want, it doesn’t bother me.”
Where shall we go on our next holiday?
“Oh, wherever, I’m happy to go anywhere.”
You get the picture. Annoying, isn’t it? Unfortunately, it has often been my partner bearing the brunt of this onslaught, and we were both getting a bit fed up with it.
So, in the preparation for this Cape Town adventure, I took the time to thoroughly Google restaurants that we might both enjoy (vegan options for me, omni options for him), attractions that he might like, as well as a number of wineries that I wanted to visit.
So, as a means of celebrating my research efforts, we set our sights on Beau Constantia; a gorgeous boutique winery that offers stunning views, as well as some of the most delicious wine I have had in a LONG time.
Where is Beau Constantia?
Easily found on Constantia Main Road, Beau Constantia sits high on the hillside, with a view overlooking the Vineyards and surrounding gardens. You can easily plug the name into Uber or Google Maps for easy directions.

How much does it cost to do a tasting?
Currently only costing R100 per person (only around USD$7!), there are few reasons not to visit. Should you wish to stay for longer than one tasting, bottles are available for purchase or delivery (even internationally!) and there are a range of snacks to whet your appetite between glasses.
